How to make a simple skin toner at home

Toners are an important part of any skin routine. It is usually the second step in a proper skin regiment.

So why do you need a toner anyway? To understand the importance we first need to know how cleansers work. Cleansing is the first step in the skin regiment. Cleansers work by opening the pores on your skin in order to draw dirt from them. After you wash your face, these pores stay open giving bacteria and dirt to enter the skin making the cleansing process less effective. This is where the toner comes in. A toner seals these open pores and prevent re-entry of bacteria and dirt. Sealed pores also give the skin a smooth appearance.

Most toners store bought toners tend to be expensive. Also one doesn’t know what exactly is going into the product because lets face it, some of those ingredients are just too hard to read or comprehend. The good news is you can DIY and make one in the house. Here are the steps;

What you need

  • A clean spray bottle.
  • Clean water
  • Rose water

The process

  • I add the rose water in the ratio of 2:1. That is two parts of Rose water to one part of water. Put this in the spray bottle. Shake to mix and that’s it. It is actually that simple

Rose water is extracted from rose petals and has anti-inflammatory properties which can help reduce redness on the skin. It is helps moisturize the skin giving you a glowing look. It helps to regenerate skin cells. It has anti-bacterial properties that help in healing of pimple scars.
