The President fires all the Kenya Ferry Service board members
President Uhuru Kenyatta has sacked all the Kenya Ferry Services board members.
In a Gazette Notice NO. 9833, The president revoked the appointment of Dan Mwanzo, Daula Omar, Naima Amir, Philip Ndolo and Rosina Nagisha Mruttu as non executive chairperson and members of the Kenya Ferry Services Limited.
Under The State Corporation Act cap 446, section 7(3), Not withstanding the provisions of any other written law or the articles of association establishing and governing a Board, the President may, if at any time it appears to him that a Board has failed to carry out its functions in the national interest, revoke the appointment of any member of the Board and may himself nominate a new member for the remainder of the period of office of that member or he may constitute a new Board for such period as he shall, in consultation with the Committee, determine.
This comes after the likoni ferry tragedy which occurred earlier this month. 2 lives were lost when the vehicle they were in plunged into the ocean. The Kenya Ferry Service organized for the recovery of the bodies which lasted 10 days since the incident occurred.
