I am broke, please refund my Sh15 million bail — Governor Waititu request the courts
Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has written to the court seeking a reimbursement of the Sh15 million he paid as bail in an ongoing case corruption case against him.
The embattled Governor, in his application, said he urgently needed the money to sort out some financial constraints in order to meet his daily financial obligations.
In a sworn affidavit former Nairobi Mayor John Ndirangu has agreed to stand in as surety for the governor saying that he knew him very well at a personal level.
“Waititu is well known to me. I have on a myriad of occasions visited his city and rural residence. I have extensive knowledge of his businesses and interests,” said Ndirangu.
On July 30, Waititu and 10 others were charged in connection to graft allegations that cost Kiambu county Sh588 million that had been set aside for upgrade of roads and supply of services.
Waitutu denied the allegations and was released on Sh15 million bail.
