Form 1 girl kills self after being humiliated by her teacher, police investigate
Police officers in Bungoma have launched an investigation following the death of a Form one girl who committed suicide at cardinal Otunga Girls.
The student is a 13-year-old Naomi Sifuna.
According to Johnstone Lyambila, Bungoma South’s acting divisional police commander (OCPD), DCI sleuths are conducting an investigation.
“Concerning a student who committed suicide at Cardinal Otunga Girls’ High School, the DCI officers and others visited the school on Wednesday to ascertain what had happened,” said Lyambila.
“They found that indeed a Form One girl had committed suicide. We are trying to find out what happened before,” he added.
According to her colleagues, she hanged herself using a bed sheet tied around her neck in the dormitory, this happened hours after the deputy principal embarrassed her in public for doctoring her Geography marks.
The deceased had allegedly sneaked into the staffroom and awarded herself a score of 93 per cent.
The school administration declined to comment on the matter as the Principal was not around.
The body has been moved Bungoma County Referral Hospital.
