Another school tragedy in Kiambu, scores injured
Monday 23, September 2019 was not a good day for Kenyan primary schools, while the nation was mourning the loss of 8 students at Precious Talent School in Dagoretti South Constituency, another more than 170 students at Kanyariri Primary school were attacked by bees.
The students who were out enjoying their lunch at 12:30 pm unaware of an impending attack from the bees were stung and many left with injuries.
The biggest casualties were the class four and five students
The pupils were taken to Wangige Health Centre for first aid treatment after the incident while two were taken to Kiambu Level 5 Hospital.
One of the witnesses who is a parent said screams from the students alerted them.
“We were left helpless as we could not access the school. We tried to go in through the gate and fence but it was impossible,” said the parent.
However, the county fire department team swung into action and managed to repulse the angry bees.
