North Imenti Member of Parliament Rahim Dawood has told off Mt. Kenya politicians aligning themselves to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta as the region’s kingpin terming them as non-starters.

The lawmaker cited former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri, his successor Peter Munya, and Council of Governors vice chair Mwangi Wa Iria saying that none of them can fit into the President’s shoes.

Rahim stressed the need to achieve Mt. Kenya unity and to ensure that President Kenyatta remains in an influential national position beyond 2022 so as to retain the helm of the region’s power before a suitable heir can be groomed.

“For now, the only thing we can do is to support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and lobby for the position of Prime Minister so that Uhuru is appointed”, argued Rahim.

The MP projected the leadership takeover in the region to take place in 2027 and not in 2022 as is widely expected.
