Tough times ahead in Kenya as inflation rises
Kenyans should brace themselves for hard economic times after the latest figures from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) indicated that inflation in the country has risen from 3.83 per cent in September to 4.95.
According to KNBS, the increase could be attributed to the increase in food prices in October.
“Prices of several foodstuffs were significantly higher in October compared to the prices recorded in September,” KNBS director-general Zachary Mwangi said.
Some of the most basic food commodities that skyrocketed in pricing include, tomatoes, sifted maize and maize grain.
A kilo of beans retailed at Sh124.03 in October up from Sh121.21 in September. While a kilo of sugar decreased from Sh106.15 to 104.72.
