Tottenham Hotspurs: Jose Mourinho in Mauricio Pochettino out

English Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspurs have sought the services of former Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho few hours after parting ways Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy expressed his confidence that the appointment of Mourinho will turn around the fortunes of the club that currently lies 14th in the Premier League log.

“In Jose, we have one of the most successful managers in football. He has a wealth of experience, can inspire teams and is a great tactician. He has won honours at every club he has coached. We believe he will bring energy and belief to the dressing room,” said Levy.

The deal between the Portuguese coaching maestro and the London based club was sealed in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The “Special One” as he fondly refers to call himself will kick-start his Tottenham managerial career on Saturday when Spurs will travel to the London Stadium to face city rivals West Ham United.

Mourhino will serve as the Spurs coach until the summer of 2023.

“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jose Mourinho as Head Coach on a contract that runs until the end of the 2022/23 season,” reads part of the club official statement.

The Argentine, Mauricio Pochettino, leaves the club after five years at the helm, his most memorable accomplishments include but not limited to taking Spurs to the UEFA Champions League finals in June 2019, where they lost to Liverpool FC in Madrid.

However, sports pundits have criticised the move by Tottenham in the sacking of Pochettino.
