Relief for motorists as Fuel Prices drop
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has reduced the cost of super petrol and diesel in its latest maximum pump prices review.
Petrol users will count the largest relief having seen the biggest slash in costs by Ksh.4.76 per liter.
Diesel users will meanwhile see a marginal relief to the product’s pricing in a marginal Ksh.1.08 decrease in costs.
The price of kerosene has however been increased by 44 cents per litre.
EPRA has attributed the adjustments to variations in the average landed cost of petroleum products during the month of September even as the overall costs of lifted free on-board oil increased by 3.4 percent.
Following the review, petrol will retail at Ksh.108.05 per liter and diesel at Ksh.101.96 beginning midnight on Monday in Nairobi.
The cost of kerosene per liter will meanwhile rise to Ksh.101.08 following the upward adjustment to its maximum cost.
The continued plunge of petroleum products will serve to provide further impetus to the recovery of the country’s inflation growth rate which fell to a 17-month low 3.58 percent at the end of September.
The motorists’ relief signaled in EPRA’s latest maximum pump prices cuts is against previous jitters on the cuts to global crude supply following significant strikes to two key Saudi oil installations that immediately rendered five percent of the global crude supply unavailable.
