Questions that you need to ask yourself before quitting a relationship

We are all told to fight for love, that we always need to put effort into the things that we want most. However, we are also told to let go of the things that aren’t meant for us. But how do we know? How can we make that distinction? How do we know when it’s still okay to fight for a relationship and how do we know when we need to walk away? Well, that isn’t always the easiest question to answer and no one else can really give that answer for you.

So you might wake-up one morning and feel like its time that you moved on. This may be as a result of  various reasons but before calling it quits, it is important that you understand why you are doing that and if its in your best interest.

Here are some of the questions that you can ask yourself to ascertain where its the best decision.

  1. Will being single make you happy

Before quitting, make sure that you will be satisfied with your decision. There is no point in quitting a relationship for some flimsy reason and then you start regretting later on.

After doing the self assessment, if you still decide to push on with your decision, then make sure that you are happy and you can live with it.

2. Do you foresee a future with your partner

This is an important angle to look at, so always confirm is there is a future for you two. If there isn’t any then you are free to move on.

There is nothing as sad or pathetic as leaving a relationship when there was hope for the future.

3. Have you developed feelings for another person

To be honest, we sometimes consider leaving our partners because you have an attraction towards other people. the reality on the ground is, the grass is never greener on the other side however much it seems so.

So always know all the facts before making major decision that will affect you negatively.

4. What has made you change your mind

Most of the time when we sign up for relationship, we never look forward to breakup. We always intend to have a relationship goal that you probably will marry the people that we are with.

When you consider quitting, what has really changed? You may ask yourself that question to ensure that you are not leaving for selfish reasons.

5. Have you been a victim of abuse

The other reason why people leave there relationships, is because they have been victims of abuse. So if you are in an abusive relationship, the you got to value yourself and walk.

Most of the abusive people in relationships never change so if this is why you are leaving then that’s fine.
