Senators were on Wednesday evening treated to a hilarious session as besieged Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu took the podium to present his defense case. The governor passionately appealed to senate members to serve him a sentence in a humane way and as they “would like to be treated if they became governors in future.”

The house had earlier in the day turned down an application by Waititu to have new evidence admitted. After listening to the governor make his case, Senate speaker Ken Lusaka adjourned the session for a 15-minute break after which senators will convene to cast the vote that will seal Waititu’s fate.
