Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak is dead.

Mubarak who was ousted by the military in 2011 died in hospital in Cairo aged 91.

He spent three decades in office but was ousted following mass protests against his rule in 2011. He was the longest-serving ruler since Muhammad Ali Pasha.

He was found guilty of complicity in the killing of protesters during the revolution. That conviction was overturned and was freed in March 2017.
