ODM rescues Senator Malala after ANC ‘expelled’ him
Embattled Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala can now rest easy after ODM party promised to give him a direct ticket if Amani National Congress (ANC) expels him from their party register.
Malala has been under pressure from ANC after he openly campaigned for the ODM candidate Imran Benard Okoth in the Kibra by-election and overlooking party candidate Eliud Owalo.
The Orange party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said the party was ready to stand with Malala.
“Malala supported us in Kibra, ODM party will stand with him. ANC is pained after losing the by-election,” Sifuna said.
“They spent money, and they are feeling the pinch. As the ODM secretary-general, I want to say that should they (ANC) oust you, we shall receive you.”
Sifuna was speaking at a fund drive at Cheptulu Salvation Army in Vihiga County on Sunday.
However, Malala has also stated that he remains confident that he shall win by a landslide in case of a by-election.
