No Diwali holiday extension on Monday 28th October, CS Matiang’i confirms
Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has stated that Monday 28, October will be a normal working day.
The confirmation by Matiang’i comes in after a document resembling the Kenya Gazette notice was widely circulated in social circles that Monday will be a holiday extension of Sunday’s Diwali celebrations.
Matiang’i stated that the document is fake and Kenyans should treat Monday like a normal working day.
“Kindly ignore a gazette notice circulating on social media claiming Monday 28th October 2019 to be a public holiday. Monday 28th remains a normal working day,” a statement from the Ministry read.
Diwali is a week-long festival that is celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and some Buddhists. It is also known as the festival of lights.
