Elgeyo Marakwet senator, who is also the Senate majority party leader Kipchumba Murkomen has faulted a section of leaders whom he accused of issuing threats to him just a day to the much-awaited BBI meeting in Mombasa. In a twitter post, Murkomen reveals that he is privy to information that a scheme is being hatched to humiliate him at the public address by either being denied a seat or being heckled on stage.
“I have been threatened that if I attend the Mombasa BBI meeting I shall be humiliated by being denied a seat, not being allowed to talk or even if I am allowed to talk I shall be heckled. If that’s what it takes to unite this country so be it & I am ready to absorb. Tukutane Mombasa”, reads Murkomen’s tweet.

Murkomen has in recent days emerged as the de facto wing leader of the Jubilee party faction dubbed Tangatanga that has been making inroads countrywide to drum up support for Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid. The movement had earlier staged a rigorous resistance campaign against the BBI report meetings but later made a dramatic turn and expressed their support for the process.

Members of the faction have in the recent past decried what they have termed as harassment and unfair targeting by state operatives, and which they interpret as part of a deliberate effort to scuttle the DP’s ambitions.
