Oscar Sudi’s tears into Arch-Bishop Muheria’s character
Hon. Kipchumba Sudi has shocked the country after a series of outrageous tweets accusing the well-respected Catholic bishop of tribalism.
Oscar Sudi reacted to a strong statement made by Muheria’s colleagues on the government’s failures.
“It is dumbfounding to see Archbishop Anthony Muheria preaching the gospel on one hand and fanning tribalism on the other hand.
Muheria lacks the moral authority to criticize the current regime because he is akin to doublespeak.
The cleric is on record for backing the past regime even when it was clear it had failed Kenyans and must be bold enough to steer away from tribal politics,” wrote Sudi on X.
It remains unclear to Kenyans how and when the bishop has acted in a tribal manner. Sudi proceeded to accuse Arch-Bishop Muheria of pretense, noting that the religious leader remained silent during the infamous River Yala dead body dumps.
“Where was Muheria when bodies were turning up in River Yala during Uhuru’s regime?” posed Sudi.
River Yala gained nationwide attention in January 2022 when over 19 dead bodies were retrieved from its banks.
Decomposing bodies of unknown individuals had been lodged in between rocks in a fast-flowing section of the Yala River.
The shocking discovery caused an uproar against the then government-led by former president Uhuru Kenyatta.
Human rights groups, international media, and the Kenyan public put pressure on the national police to unravel the killings and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Sharp X users have fact-checked the MP, reminding him that the Nyeri Archdiocese leader spoke against the killings 2 years ago.
Kenyans Condemn Sudi for Unprovoked Attacks on Archbishop Muheria
Kenyan social media users have been angered by Oscar Sudi’s furious tweets aimed at prominent cleric Anthony Muheria.
While noting that Arch-Bishop Muheria did not even speak at the media briefing, enraged X users accused the legislator of hate and tribalism.
Below are some of the reactions by Kenyans to Sudi’s statements:
A sarcastic @Cjamehk wrote: “Oscar Sudi thinks that They can impeach Bishop Anthony Muheria and install their own.”
“Archbishop Anthony Muheria is a man we respect and have immense admiration for as a nation. A man of integrity and full of love for his country. The statement from Sudi calling him a tribalist was baseless and uncalled for,” said blogger Pauline Njoroge.

The bishops have heavily criticized the government for massive greed and plunder of public resources. Political wrangles within the reigning administration have led to tensions across different Kenyan communities.
Human rights violations are among the key issues of concern raised by the bishops, who blamed the regime for illegal abductions and brutal killings witnessed over the past few months.
