Maverick Aoko flees to safety after tip-off on potential arrest
Blogger Maverick Aoko has lifted the lid on a string of shocking events that forced her to go into hiding.
In her statement, the journalist reveals that she was tipped off by an unknown person about her impending arrest.
Operatives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) were closing in on Aoko among other targets, as they had reportedly agreed in their internal meetings.
Through SMS texts, the mysterious person cautioned the blogger to have a Mulika Mwizi (feature phone) on standby with emergency numbers on speed dial.
“They were to come for me at the same time they went for the missing Kitengela brothers,” wrote Aoko in a statement she posted on X.
Aware of her recent horrendous treatment in DCI custody, Aoko fled to a remote part of the country away from the sniffing state operatives.
Aoko treated and discharged at a remote hospital after DCI onslaught
After escaping the city, Aoko sought refuge at a hospital ward in an undisclosed remote location.
The blogger revealed that she suffered a miscarriage during her arrest and time in custody. She was also denied access to her medication which put her at severe health risk.
Attaching a picture of herself in a medical ward, Aoko reported that she underwent treatment at the remote health facility.
“I’m now better, discharged, and back! Thank God!,” wrote Aoko announcing her return to social media.
Aoko: “Politicians must be ready for private scrutiny”
Ms. Aoko has again blasted politicians for violently discouraging scrutiny of their character.
The blogger has attributed her recent arrest and arraignment in court to her tweets about the personal lives of senior government officials.
Her tweets about members of the first family and defense Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya prompted the DCI to take action, leading to her arrest and arraignment on charges related to the Computer Misuse and Cyber Crimes Act.
Sustaining her criticism of leaders, Aoko wrote: “Scrutinizing the personal lives of politicians is one of the most important responsibilities of a voter or citizen,” adding that “If as president you proudly wear a wedding ring dotted with 76 Baby Mama carats, I’ll tweet about it”
