LIVE UPDATE: Precious Talent School, classroom collapses, more than two children feared dead

1:10 pm: On the way forward Magoha said.
“We have consulted and the school will be closed in four days. The school will be inspected for safety and if found unsafe the students will be transferred to the nearest primary school that is 2km from here,” said Magoha.
1:05 pm: “Our role as government must ensure schools available ares safe enough. If there is no primary school within Ng’ando the government will commit to constructing a primary school by ensuring land is made available by whatever means and by the grace of God in 2-4 months we will have a primary school,” said Magoha.
Updates from KNH
12:17 pm: Some of the 7 kids who succumbed have been taken to different mortuaries in the city according to their parent’s preferences.
12:14 pm: The Board of Director at KNH has stated that no child will be discharged without being positively identified by either a guardian or parent.
12:12 pm: No fatality reported at KNH and no teacher was affected in the collapse
“So far out of the 64 kids received only two are in a critical state, the other 62 are stable. In fact, they are now being fed,” said Doctor Kamuri acting CEO at KNH.
11:20 am: From Kenyatta hospital, reports say that one of the students got injuries in the lungs while the other was injured in the stomach.
11:05 am: CS Magoha to arrive at 12:30 PM and will give a proper directive on whats are the next steps for the school and affected students.
11:03 am: As a government, we are following the progress of the 64 students being attended to at Kenyatta Hospital, PS Belio Kipsang is with them, says government Spokesperson Oguna.
10:45 am: Counselling sessions for some of the children who witnessed the collapse ongoing at a different space not far from the school.

10:38 am: Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha is expected to come arrive at the scene and issue the most comprehensive statement from the government.
10:36 am:Â Forensic team from the DCI has arrived at the scene and the public has been pushed away from the rumble.
10:34 am: One of the parents at Precious Talent School said they had raised concerns over the kind of infrastructure at the school earlier but the management gave them a deaf ear.

A two-story wall collapsed on Monday at 6:50 am trapping students at the Precious Talent Academy in Ng’ando, Dagoretti South.
Red Cross officials are already on site.
Area MP John Kiarie has already reported to the scene.
“The first floor collapsed on students who were in class on the ground floor,” Dagoreti South MP John Kiarie.
