Starehe constituency Member of Parliament Charles Njagua alias Jaguar has moved to better the welfare of inmates remanded at the Industrial area remand prison by donating a total of 200 mattresses.
In a post seen by Howto on his twitter account, the musician cum politician wrote that he felt moved by the passion that remandees should lead comfortable lives as they await the conclusions of their cases.
The gesture comes just a day after Njagua’s Embakasi East counterpart Babu Owino was remanded at the facility in a case where he’s accused of shooting and injuring a Nairobi club DJ.
In his post, Njagua made fun of his colleague’s predicament by stating that Babu will be one of the beneficiaries of his (Njagua’s) charitable act.

“Today I will donate over 200 mattresses to Industrial Area Prison, Starehe. I believe that remandees should be as comfortable as possible as they await the outcome of their cases. My colleague, Hon. Babu Owino, will benefit from one of the heavy-duty mattresses.” Reads Njagua’s tweet.
The Starehe lawmaker accompanied his post with photos of the goodies being loaded in a truck for transportation to Industrial area.
Owino and Njagua have in the past clashed leading to a physical fight within Parliament’s precincts in the full glare of cameras.
