How to file Income Tax Employment Income Only
- Ensure you have a KRA P9A form (tax deduction card) From your employer
- Your PIN and identification number
- An iTax account. If you dont have one visit https://itax.kra.go.ke/KRA-Portal
- Log in using your PIN
Once you have the P9A form log into iTax:
- Under the returns tab scroll down to ITR for employment income only
- Enter the year in the format 01/01/yyyy where yyyy is the year 01/01/2012 to 31/12/2015. Select the “Yes” radio button and click next.
- In the page that follows, identity and enter the following figures that can be found on your P9A form
- Your taxable salary is the gross pay on the P9A
- Amount of tax deducted is the amount of Total Tax (Col) on your P9A form
- Defined contribution is your total retirement contribution i.e NSSF plus any other pension contributions
- Enter your personal relief total as shown in your P9A form
- Save all items and submit
- If there are no errors you will get an on screen message notifying you that your submission is successful
- You can view your filed return and make an amendment if necessary
