Heavy rains alert by the Meteorology department
The Kenya Meteorology department has issued a heavy rain alert. The heavy rains are expected to last up Monday.
The rains will be accompanied by strong winds.
Residents of Nairobi, Lamu, Kilifi, Mombasa, Kwale and Tana River are advised to be on the look out for flash floods.
The MET department said that, flash floods may be experienced in area where no no rains have been received in a long while.
Residents in the mentioned counties have been urged to avoid wadding through moving water, sheltering under tree and standing in open fields.
The alert also urged people living in areas prone to landslide, to take precautionary measures to avoid casualties and loss of properties.
This warning came in shortly after four lives were lost on Meru county on Wednesday evening.
Some of the other counties highlighted in the alert include; Kakamega, Nakuru, Narok, Nandi, Laikipia, Baringo, Nyeri, Vihiga, Transzoia and west pokot.
