The Wuhan treatment center named Huoshenshan Hospital is open and rolling. It is part of high-intensity efforts by the Chinese government to counter the killer coronavirus that has sent panic waves all across the world. The hospital, built in record 10 days, has been fully equipped with the capacity to house 1,000 beds. The government is in a rush against time to try and contain the rising death toll and the number of new infections that has now hit the roof.

A second facility with a 1,500-bed capacity is under construction and is due for opening this week in Wuhan city where the deadly virus was first detected in December. Up to 11 million residents of the city have been barred from leaving the area, with the government cutting all road, rail and air access to the ill-fated city.

By the time of going to press, the viral outbreak had been reported to have killed 360 people with the number of surviving infections rising to 17,000. Up to 1,400 doctors and other staff personnel have been dispatched to the new facility where patients are reported to have started streaming in.
