Another sad story of a bright student lacking school fees to further his studies has yet again emerged in Mlolongo, Machakos county.

The young man Tyson Mmbwanga Muliolo who scored 385 out 500 in the 2019 KCPE exams attempted suicide three days ago after his single and jobless mother failed to raise schools.

Muliolo was selected to join Mitaboni Boys High School in Machakos but the abject poverty surrounding his ailing mother who resides in a single room in Mlolongo town could not help much.

Muliolo aspires to be a mechanical engineer but the dream can only come true if and only if well-wishers come to his aid.

The cases of top bright students failing to secure their slots in top secondary and varsities due to lack of school fees has been on the rise putting into question who really benefits from the scholarships from the government and private sector.

Just this week radio host-cum comedian Jalang’o rallied his friends to support a young Levis Rabah who had reported to Maseno school armed with two bars of soaps and the desire to learn.
