Ruth Matete to be ordained as church minister

Former project fame winner Ruth Matete will be ordained this coming Sunday as a church minister alongside her husband John Apewajowe.

An elated Ruth took to social media to celebrate her achievement while inviting her fans to join her at the Christ Nation Church, Mountain Mall rooftop on Thika road as she takes her priestly vows.

“Calvary greetings to you. Hope this finds you well. It is with great humility to God Almighty that we wish to welcome you to our ordination ceremony this Sunday 26th from 3 pm to 6 pm. The venue is at Christ Nation Church, Mountain Mall rooftop, along Thika road. We will be honoured to have you attend,” she posted.

The songstress is not the first Kenyan celebrity to heed to the pulpit call. She will join Papa Shirandula actress Daisy Netila alias Nalliaka who followed her calling late last year.

In December 2009, Daisy was ordained as a pastor at the Harvest Family Church in Ongata Rongai.

Announcing the news on her Instagram page, she thanked her mentor in ministry for believing in her and always showing her the way.

“The day my life changed totally. I thank God for my spiritual father Jimmy Macharia who saw beyond my weaknesses. When God wants to do something in your life, He will introduce to you a man. Dear God, please help me not to ever forget where you picked from,” read the post.

In 2018, former screen siren Cynthia Nyamai also shocked Kenyans when she announced on social media that she had taken up the pulpit and shared a photo of herself ministering in the church.

“Doing my Father’s business! If you told me last year a time like now that I would be serving at the pulpit I would have laughed so hard. But now every time I stand at the pulpit I realize what a great honor it is to be called of God to serve Him,” she wrote.
