– Sailors gang manager Mwalimu Rachel charged with assaulting one, Martin Mbugua
NRG radio presenter Rachel Muthoni Njeru popularly known as Mwalimu Rachel has been charged with robbery with violence.
Appearing at the Kikuyu Law Courts on January 31, Rachel was charged alongside four others who were not in court for allegedly robbing Martin Mbugua of valuables worth Sh 103,000, SDE reported.
According to the charge sheet, Rachel and her accomplices allegedly committed the crime on January 17 at Kinoo, Kikuku sub-county within Kiambu County.
Rachael who manages Sailors gang group was accused of violently robbing Mbugua a wristwatch worth Sh35,000, two silver chains valued at Sh65,000 and Sh3,600 in cash with help of four other accomplices.
In an earlier interview with SDE, Mbugua’s guardian claimed that they were in talks of an out of court settlement, however, they did not come to an agreement.
The charges carry a death penalty, and if found guilty Rachel could be sentenced to death, according to section 296 (2) of the Penal Code.
