Bobi Wine arrested, detained

Police in Uganda have arrested opposition politician Robert Kyagulanyi, who is popularly known as Bobi Wine to his legion of fans.

The singer- turned- political activist was arrested on Monday in Kampala while he attempted to access a venue in the outskirts of the capital city so as to hold his first meeting with supporters.

Media reports indicate that he was arrested alongside some of his aides and taken to Kasangati Police station.

Police for the past months have reportedly prevented the opposition lawmaker from holding any public gathering saying it poses danger to the public.

Bobi has called for the retirement of Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni, saying that “it was high time he stepped down and pave way for the country’s young leaders.

The country’s general elections are set for 2021.
