DP William Ruto speaks after Imran wins Kibra seat
A few hours after the Independent Electoral and boundaries Commission (IEBC) announced ODM’s Benard Imran Okoth winner of the Kibra by-election, Deputy President William Ruto has broke his silence.
In an official tweet seen by our new team, Ruto congratulated Okoth and also heaped praises on Jubilee’s candidate McDonald Mariga and the party for daring Raila Odinga stronghold alias ‘the bedroom’.
“Pongezi Benard Okoth for Kibra. Congrats Mariga, Team Jubilee and supporters for daring the so-called, ‘bedroom’ braving the chaos/violence, to double our votes from 12%(2017) to 26%. now our competitors came down 78%(2017) to 52%. They retained the seat we have served notice,” read the tweet.
From the tweet, it is evident that DP Ruto does not see ODM’s win as a defeat to Jubilee but a notice of greater things to come from the Jubilee party.
However, the results from the 183 polling stations crowned Imran with 24,636 votes while Mariga locked 11,230 votes. ANC’s Eliud Owalo came a distant third with 5, 275 votes.
