The 33-year-old man who was caught with a live 2.3-metre long python has been jailed for two years.
Apart from the 2 years sentence, the accused will also pay a fine of Sh 1 million for possessing the snake without a permit from the Kenya Wildlife Service.

“The accused shall pay a fine of Sh1 million and in default serve 2 years in jail,” said the judge.

The man was arrested handling a live 2.3-metres long python on Tuesday night near the Likoni Ferry Channel.
The man who is of the Giriama descent had properly tucked in the 10-kilogram snake in a black suitcase before police officers intercepted him and searched his bags.
