Big wins for Uhuru, Raila as Kalonzo falters in Ward by-elections
President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga have reaped big wins in the just concluded ward by-elections that were conducted in three different wards across the county.
However, the same cannot be said concerning Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, whose party lost to Governor Alfred Mutua’s Maendeleo Chap Chap party (MCC).
Kalonzo lost the Motunguni Ward seat in Kitui county to MCC’s Musee Mati who garnered 2,892, while Wiper’s candidate Stephen Kithuki got 2,147 votes.
Jubilee party managed to snatch the Loiyangalani ward seat from FAP, with their candidate Stephen nakeno trouncing five other contestants by 1522 votes, Kanu’s Aoron Iltele came second with 1,048 votes.
Elsewhere in Ganda Ward, Kilifi county, ODM’s Rueben Katana won by 4,177 votes while Independent candidate Abdul Omar score 2,331, Jubilee’s candidate Joseph Kiponda came a distant third with 589.
