Nairobi County increases car parking fees to Ksh. 400
Nairobi County has announced that it has increased car parking fees across the board for both private cars and public service vehicles that operate in Nairobi. This is after the County enacted the Finance Act on 25th Septembers 2019. The new fees take effect on December 4th 2019.
The new parking fees will see the cost of parking in the CBD rise to Ksh. 400, up from Ksh. 200 per day.
The new daily car parking fees are as follows;
- Nairobi CBD – Ksh 400
- Westlands, Upperhill, Community, Ngara, Highridge, Gigiri, Yaya Centre, Mwiki, Industrial Area, Dagoretti, Kawangware, Kangemi, South B, South C, Nairobi West, Langata, Madaraka, Makadara, Buruburu, Umoja, Kayole, Embakasi, Donholm, Muthaiga, Milimani, Hurlingham, Lavington, Karen and Eastleigh- Ksh 200
- All other commercial areas- Ksh. 100
Buses (non-matatu) – Ksh. 1,000
The price for seasonal tickets will be as follows;
Private cars
1 month – Ksh. 7,000
3 months – Ksh. 18,000
6 months – Ksh. 32,000
12 months – Ksh. 55,000
Loss of ticket – Ksh. 1,000
The rise in parking fees in the CBD is apparently aimed at reversing the drop in Nairobi revenues and decongesting the Central Business District (CBD). The parking fees were initially Ksh. 300 before being dropped to Ksh. 200.
