Enough with your fraud! New York Judge shocks Trump
US President Donald Trump has been found guilty of misusing his qcharity foundation’s funds by a New York court. According to state Judge Saliann Scarpulla, Trump will now be required by law to pay $2 million in fines and penalties for contravening rules and guidelines manning charity operations in the US.
The ruling comes as a successful conclusion to a lawsuit filed by New York attorney general’s office last year questioning the role that Trump Foundation played in the 2016 presidential campaigns. In response to the charges, Trump was quick to admit that he erroneously allowed his presidential machinery to liaise with Trump Foundation in holding a funds drive for war veterans that was tailored to further Mr. Trump’s political campaign.
In addition to the penalties, Trump Foundation will get dissolved and its remaining funds amounting to $1.7 million will be distributed evenly to eight other non-profit organizations. Trump and his lawyers have however faulted the lawsuit, terming it as politically motivated.
Attorney General Letitia James has hailed the petition outcome describing it as “a major victory in efforts to protect charitable assets and to hold accountable those who would abuse charities for personal gain”
