Top government executives plotting my ouster — CJ David Maraga
The Chief Justice of Kenya David Maraga has revealed that top executives in government are pushing to have him removed from office before the end of 2019.
Maraga who was speaking on Monday outside the Supreme Court said the plot to oust him will not materialise as he vows to exercise the power bestowed on him by Kenyans.
The top judge also decried underfunding in the Judiciary leading to budget constraints that have led to the halting of Court of Appeal sittings in Nakuru, Eldoret and Mombasa.
Maraga also stated that the Judiciary is unfairly targeted in budget cuts by Treasury and further warned service delivery likely to grind to a halt if courts are not funded.
He also threw a jibe and executive saying, from now going forward he will be choosing which state event to attend if the executive continues with the contemptuous treatment towards the Judiciary.
