Trump dumps New York residence for Florida, 2020 Game Plan Stunt?
US President Donald Trump has announced plans to shift his permanent residence to Florida from Trump Tower in New York. While making the plans public, Trump expressed regret that New York’s political leaders have continued to frustrate him despite him having paid millions of dollars in taxes.
This follows serious political conflicts between him and New York state Governor Andrew Cuomo and the city’s mayor Bill de Blasio. Trump, a New York born, has spent the most time of his life at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach.
Trump made the announcement via twitter where he also gave the clearest hint yet that he will be seeking re-election to office once his term expires next year. “Unfortunately, despite the fact that I pay millions of dollars in city, state and local taxes each year, I have been treated very badly by the political leaders of both the city and state. Few have been treated worse. 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, the White House, is the place I have come to love and will stay for, hopefully, another 5 years as we MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN”, read part of the tweet.
The White House has however not released a comment on the President’s reasons for changing his address although a source close to the President has been quoted by New York Times as saying that the move has been mainly fuelled by tax policies. Worth noting is that Florida does not have a state income tax or inheritance tax.
