Cardi B: “Kamala Harris persuaded me to vote.”
American rapper Cardi B recently responded to the developments in the 2024 U.S. election, as Republican Donald Trump emerges as the clear winner.
The celebrated music star sent priceless compliments to her favorite candidate in the contest, Vice President Kamala Harris.
Harris became the first female Vice President of America following her victory alongside President Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
Her rise to the second-highest office in America was hailed as a historic breaking of the glass ceiling for women in leadership.
Kamala Harris hoped to extend her accomplishments by becoming the first woman to occupy the White House as president.
It was her record-breaking achievements that inspired other American women, like Cardi B, who felt compelled to support Kamala’s journey to the White House.
“I want her to know that no matter what happens tonight, millions of people around the world are proud of her. I’m proud of her. At the beginning of the year, I did not want to vote for anybody. She changed my mind,” said Cardi B on Instagram.
The “Bodak Yellow” hitmaker spoke on election night as millions of Americans were glued to their TV screens following the election results.
A visibly distraught Cardi B also revealed that she was convinced to vote for Kamala Harris because of her honesty.
According to her, Vice President Kamala Harris is a symbol of pride for women around the world and women of color in America.
Cardi B attributes Kamala’s defeat to a miscalculation by the Democratic Party
Cardi B expressed fears of Kamala’s possible loss in the ongoing US 2024 elections in a cryptic social media post with the words “We need a Hail Mary.”
She later followed it up with a live video session with her fans, where she expressed the desperate situation in the Kamala Haris camp.
Around the same time, multiple media houses including the right-leaning Fox News were predicting an imminent Trump victory.
In the video, Cardi criticized the Democratic Party for introducing Harris to the race too late.
“She had 100 days to do all of this and she woke this nation up. I feel that they kept her a lot in the background last year. They put her in a position to practically save the day,” said the rapper.
Cardi was referring to a longstanding confusion within the Democratic Party that saw VP Harris’s late installation as the party’s presidential nominee.
The party had long settled on siting president Joe Biden who was looking to run for a second term.
Biden’s poor performance at a presidential debate against Mr. Trump forced the Democratic Party to reconsider his candidature.
President Biden had publicly shown signs of weakness by occasionally falling over and losing his train of thought while speaking.
The worsening situation put the ruling party under pressure, forcing it to make a change.
Biden stepped down from the race paving the way for his vice president to face the established Republican candidate Donald Trump.
Donald Trump has already delivered his victory speech and looks all set to assume office for his second term as the 47th President of the United States.
