Activist Kasmuel McOure supports Gachagua’s impeachment

McOure shared his thoughts on the impeachment debate during a Friday morning interview at a local TV station, where he supported Gachagua’s ouster.

Gachagua is widely thought to have fallen out of favor with the president amid a highly publicized war of words between the country’s two top leaders.

“To the Deputy President Mr. Rigathi Gachagua, it is my sincere hope and prayer that you are impeached. I say this in the best interests of the people,” said McOure endorsing Gachagua’s removal from office.

The outspoken activist also urged Gachagua to resign to avoid a humiliating impeachment process, which would prevent him from running for office in the future.

Kasmuel McOure expresses interest in joining forces with Gachagua against Ruto

While calling on the Deputy President to resign from office, Kasmuel said there was space for him in the Gen Z-led popular movement.

McOure claims that President Ruto and his associates are strategizing to undermine Gachagua, similar to their approach to suppressing the popular movement for good governance.

“You and I have a common problem. If anything, your boss and his cronies are planning against you, they have also been planning against us,” said McOure while addressing Hon. Gachagua.

According to Kasmuel, the Deputy President is uniquely positioned to support the youth-led movement for good governance due to his extensive experience in government.

“Mr. Gachagua offers a very unique Public-private partnership to enable us to have a government for the people where we can partner with people in government. It doesn’t have to be direct, it can be a gentlemen’s agreement.”

Gachagua’s open support for the movement would be so significant that Kasmuel has announced he will shelve his 2027 political ambitions if the Deputy President agrees.

The deteriorating relationship between the President and his deputy became evident when reports emerged that Hon. Rigathi was denied access to government helicopters for his travel, alongside suspicious budget cuts to his office.

As the Anti-Finance Bill 2024 protests erupted nationwide, the Deputy President held an explosive press conference in Mombasa, stating that the President was out of touch with the country’s mood.

Hon. Gachagua attacked the government-backed Finance Bill 2024 saying that he was highly unpopular and the president ought to have known.

The president’s principal assistant accused several government agencies including the National Intelligence Service of not properly briefing the head of state.

Accusations soon surfaced that DP Gachagua was one of the financiers behind the youth-led protests, which resulted in the unprecedented occupation of Parliament on June 25, 2024.
