Why Wavinya Ndeti was in the UK

Addressing a press conference shortly after landing, the governor revealed why she went to the United Kingdom.

According to the governor, she jetted to Europe to follow up on supposed fire engines and garbage collection equipment due for delivery in Machakos.

Ms. Ndeti was also in the UK to see off her daughter who is joining the university. Ndeti ensured that her daughter had fully settled in before returning to Kenya.

Perhaps to help her with the assignment was her son Charles Oduwoale who accompanied her on the trip.

Wavinya Ndeti’s alleged surprise cash deposit

While in the UK, shocking reports emerged that her son Charles had been arrested by UK authorities with a whooping 679 million Kenya shillings.

Mr. Charles Oduwoale was reportedly put in custody after failing to properly explain the amount.

Governor Wavinya came to her stranded son’s rescue, revealing that the funds were earmarked to build a level 5 hospital for Machakos residents in the diaspora.

Kenyans went berserk following the outrageous claim by the governor, flooding social media with harsh comments about Wavinya.

Wavinya Ndeti denies reports on the UK saga

The governor has denied the allegations in a strong statement she initially issued via X.

“It is demeaning and an insult to the intelligence of the people of Machakos and Kenya to imagine I would smuggle hundreds of millions of shillings on my person to the UK and that I have been detained,” read Governor Wavinya’s statement in part.

Wavinya followed up her initial statement with a heated Monday press briefing conducted at the JKIA shortly after she touched down from England.

The governor stated that those who peddle corruption will invent various stories to distract her, but she will not be swayed by propaganda or falsehoods.

Wavinya issued the press statement leading up to a grand reception that surprised many.

Ecstatic Machakos residents lined up along Mombasa Road in Mlolongo town to welcome Her Excellency back.

In a dramatic turn of events, the online backlash against the governor has swiftly faded as her popularity at the local level continues to thrive.

In typical fashion, the governor continuously waved and later addressed the excited crowd from the top of a Toyota Prado sunroof.

Addressing her political detractors, Governor Ndeti maintained that she only answers to the almighty God and the people of Machakos.

Wavinya Ndeti’s reception shows the big disconnect between harsh sentiment on social media and actual views on the ground. The recent push for political accountability led by Gen Z appears to be losing momentum, as politicians revert to their typical rhetoric and drama.
