Nuru Okanga comes to Raila’s defense against Gen Z
Nuru Okanga issued one of the most pointed critiques yet of Kenyan Gen Zs who spearheaded the spirited protests, now considered historic.
A visibly angry Okanga did not mince his words, alleging that the young protestors had been paid to stage protests and destabilize the country.
“Mimi nataka niambie Gen Z mmelipwa kuharibu, Ohio maandamano yenyu ni sisi tutamaliza!” declared Okanga while addressing the public in Jacaranda.
Mr. Okanga was responding to perceived threats by Gen Z against Raila Odinga.
Raila’s appeal for dialogue was not well received by the young protestors who dismissed it as a self-preservation move by Kenya’s political class.
The proposed broad-based dialogue has been vehemently opposed even by some of the politicians in Raila’s camp.
Opposition leaders like former MP Jeremiah Kioni and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka have declined to dialogue with the government owing to its brutal response to the ongoing protests.
“Raila ako na goons hii Kenya, Msijaribu Raila Odinga! Msijaribu Baba!” Nuru Okanga retorted.
Nuru Okanga calls on Ruto to ruthlessly deal with protestors
In his charged address to “Bunge La Wananchi,” Nuru Okanga took a swipe at protestors who were planning to march to State House.
The fiery public speaker warned demonstrators against invading the State House which is a symbol of power and authority.
Okanga shockingly urged the president to use all means necessary including ammunition to deter protestors from accessing the house on the hill.
“Ruto usikubali mtu aonekane State House, wageuze kichungi! Peeni Ruto nafasi mpaka 2027 tuende election,” says Okanga in part.

Mr. Okanga also highlighted major concessions made by the government following intense weekly protests across the country.
In what was considered a major early victory for the #RejectFinanceBill2024 protests, the president announced that the proposed law would be withdrawn.
Ruto said in an address to the nation that he had written a memorandum to parliament, returning the bill to the house for review.
The address was swiftly followed by another one in which the head of state announced the dismissal of his cabinet.
Only his deputy and the prime cabinet secretary were spared by Ruto’s axe.
While the president appears to be making an effort to do right by the people, protests still persist with demonstrators demanding his resignation.
