Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria could find himself battling for freedom in justice corridors yet again if a request put forward by the Director of Public Prosecution’s office is granted. The ODPP is has written to a Nairobi court seeking to introduce new evidence in a collapsed hate speech case against the vocal MP.

The DPP, who spoke through his assistant Kennedy Panyako, stated that witness statements that had been reported to go missing from police files have finally been traced. The statement outlines that the said statements had been erroneously filed at the National Cohesion and Integration Commission’s offices and argues strongly that there is need to submit the newly discovered evidence for easier conviction.

The MP was however quick to object the development arguing that the move would be detrimental to him. Speaking through lawyer Geoffrey Omenke, Kuria faulted the DPP for what he termed as unlawful interference with a judicial process.

In the case, Kuria is accused of making utterances aimed at bringing death and physical injury to persons in Kenya on June 26, 2015. Kuria had earlier lashed out at the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti, accusing him of interfering with the case.
