A teacher in Kwale county has been arrested for allegedly caning a 14-year-old Aisha Awadhi to death.
Lungalunga sub-county police chief Peter Nzimbi confirmed an autopsy revealed Aisha died from a blood clot from a head injury.
The teacher is in the hot soup is Lydia Munyori who reportedly caned the whole class.
Aisha’s mother Memsa Abdallah presented the medical documents indicating her daughter was suffering from sickle cell anaemia and needed specialised care in school and at home.
“I gave the school the medical report of my daughter where the doctor had indicated that Aisha should not be beaten or given any tough task that can pose a threat to her life,” she said.
The deceased met her death two days after the caning while undergoing treatment at the Msambweni Referral Hospital and was laid to rest on Monday.
Despite the school principal Nassir Mwabeko refuting claims that the deceased died from caning the accused teacher remains in police custody awaiting her arraignment in court.
