2019 Census results released
The results of the 2019 Census are out, Kenya National Bureau of Statistics has confirmed.
The results from the August 24 and 25 exercise indicated that the Kenyan population now stands at 47.6 million.
The results were released on Monday by KNBS director-general Zachary Mwangi.
President Uhuru Kenyatta who was also in attendance at the event that took place at the State House thanked KNBS for conducting a successful Census.
“I would also like to thank the security team. I am happy to note that this is the first Census which was fully funded by my administration,” Uhuru said.

Total population – 47,564,296
23,548,056 – Male,
24,014,716 – Female
1,524 – Intersex.
The population has grown from 37.7 million in 2009 to 47.6 million in 2019.
Intersexual growth rate declined to 2.2 per cent from 2.9 in 2009
Average household size has also declined.
